OVERVIEW

After twenty-five years of social sciences research on HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa, this colloquium will take stock of the knowledge gained so far, seek to understand how these disciplines are positioned and reinvented as the epidemic faces new issues, and propose new avenues for reflection.

It is open to researchers in anthropology, sociology, demography, political science, economics, geography, history, law, philosophy, ethics, social epidemiology, etc.

The colloquium will focus mainly, though not exclusively, on countries in West and Central Africa.

 ORGANIZATION

The colloquium is co-organized by the four ANRS sites in West and Central Africa (Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, and Senegal) in partnership with the Institut d'ethnosociologie (Institute of Ethnosociology) of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny University (Abidjan) and with support from ANRS, IRD, Ceped, FMSH, Fondation de France, UNAIDS, UNICEF, and CODESRIA.

It will take place on 12–14 December 2016 at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny University, Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire.
